About Openi
For the past 18 years, Openi — an interdisciplinary artist, archivist, and creative strategist, working across film, design, and poetry — has built spaces of belonging and multiplicity for queer and neurodivergent communities and people of the global majority.
They are a 5th-generation San Francisco-born Cantonese-American who has helped found and shape physical and virtual community spaces across their native Bay Area, town side Oʻahu, and Central Texas. Openi’s work has been featured in EastBay Express, Honolulu Magazine, and Lei Culture.
